Welcome to InsideTheMind.ca. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the website, its articles, newsletters, memberships, educational materials, and related features.
By accessing or using InsideTheMind.ca, subscribing to the newsletter, creating an account, or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website.
1. About Inside the Mind
Inside the Mind is an educational psychology publication exploring the reasons behind emotions, relationships, behaviours, decisions, and everyday human experiences.
Its purpose is to help readers understand what may be happening underneath the thoughts, emotions, reactions, and patterns that shape their lives.
2. Educational information only
All articles, newsletters, guides, videos, images, social media content, and other materials provided by Inside the Mind are for general educational and informational purposes only.
The content does not constitute:
- Medical advice
- Psychiatric advice
- Psychological assessment
- Diagnosis
- Psychotherapy
- Counselling
- Medical consultation
- Treatment
- Crisis intervention
- Medication advice
- A recommendation for any particular healthcare decision
The content should not be used as a substitute for assessment, diagnosis, or treatment from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional who understands your individual circumstances.
3. No professional relationship
Accessing the website, reading its content, subscribing to the newsletter, purchasing a membership, or communicating with Inside the Mind does not create:
- A physician-patient relationship
- A psychiatrist-patient relationship
- A therapist-client relationship
- A counsellor-client relationship
- A professional advisory relationship
- A duty to provide assessment, monitoring, diagnosis, treatment, or follow-up
Even when content is written or reviewed by a healthcare professional, it remains general educational information and is not individualized medical care.
The author’s professional qualifications do not create a clinical relationship with website visitors, subscribers, or members.
4. Emergencies and urgent concerns
InsideTheMind.ca is not an emergency, crisis, or clinical communication service. The website and its associated communication channels are not continuously monitored.
Do not use the website, newsletter forms, membership account, email, or social media pages to report:
- A medical emergency
- A mental health emergency
- Suicidal thoughts or intentions
- Risk of harm to yourself or another person
- Abuse or immediate safety concerns
- Serious medication reactions
- Requests for urgent medical assistance
If you believe that you or another person is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services available in your location or attend the nearest emergency department.
5. Personal healthcare decisions
Psychological and health information must be interpreted in the context of each individual’s medical history, symptoms, circumstances, and needs.
You are responsible for seeking appropriate professional advice before making decisions related to:
- Your physical or mental health
- A child’s health or development
- Medication
- Therapy
- Diagnosis
- Treatment
- Lifestyle changes
- Emergency or safety planning
Do not delay or discontinue professional care because of information published by Inside the Mind.
6. Accuracy and interpretation of content
Inside the Mind aims to provide thoughtful, balanced, and understandable educational content. However, psychology and medicine continue to develop, and reasonable professionals may interpret evidence differently.
We do not guarantee that all content will always be:
- Complete
- Current
- Free from errors
- Applicable to every person
- Suitable for every circumstance
- Consistent with every professional opinion
Articles often discuss possible psychological explanations. These explanations should not be interpreted as conclusions about any particular person.
Descriptions of symptoms or behavioural patterns do not establish a diagnosis. Readers should not use the content to diagnose themselves or another person.
7. Memberships
Some content on InsideTheMind.ca is available without charge. Other content may require an active paid membership.
Membership benefits, prices, billing periods, and available content are displayed on the website. We may add, remove, replace, or reorganize content as the publication develops.
Membership provides a limited right to access the content available under the selected membership level. It does not provide medical care, individual advice, counselling, consultations, guaranteed publication frequency, or unlimited permanent access to every item ever published.
8. Recurring billing and renewal
Monthly and annual memberships are recurring subscriptions unless otherwise stated during checkout.
By purchasing a recurring membership, you authorize the applicable payment processor to charge the displayed membership fee and any applicable taxes at the beginning of each billing period until the membership is cancelled.
Monthly memberships renew each month. Annual memberships renew each year.
The applicable price, billing frequency, currency, and any mandatory charges will be displayed before the purchase is completed.
You are responsible for maintaining accurate account and payment information.
9. Cancellation
You may cancel your membership through the membership account area or by contacting Inside the Mind using the contact information provided on the website.
Cancellation prevents future renewal charges. Unless otherwise required by law, cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period already paid for, and access may continue until that date.
You should cancel before the next renewal date if you do not want to be charged for another billing period.
Deleting an account, unsubscribing from the free newsletter, or stopping use of the website does not necessarily cancel an active paid membership. Membership cancellation must be completed through the designated cancellation process.
10. Refunds
Because membership provides immediate access to digital content, membership payments are generally non-refundable once processed, except where a refund is required by applicable law.
We do not generally provide:
- Partial refunds for unused membership time
- Refunds for failing to cancel before renewal
- Refunds because a member did not read or use the content
- Refunds because a particular article was added, removed, or changed
- Prorated refunds after cancellation
If you believe that you were charged incorrectly, contact Inside the Mind promptly so the transaction can be reviewed.
Nothing in these Terms of Use limits any cancellation, refund, or other consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
11. Price changes
Membership prices may change in the future.
Any new price will apply according to the notice provided and applicable legal requirements. Continuing a membership after a properly communicated price change constitutes acceptance of the new price, subject to any rights available under applicable law.
You may cancel the membership before the new price takes effect.
12. Membership accounts
You may be required to create an account to access member-only content.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate account information
- Keep your login information confidential
- Use the account only for your personal access
- Notify Inside the Mind if you suspect unauthorized use
- Avoid sharing your username or password with others
- Accept responsibility for activity conducted through your account
Each membership is intended for one individual unless otherwise expressly stated.
We may suspend or terminate an account if we reasonably believe that it has been shared, misused, compromised, or used in violation of these terms.
